A discussion-based journey
toward a new perspective.
Designed for your small group.
VantagePoint™ guides you and your peers toward a fresh look at your purpose in God’s story. Drawing from scripture, respected theologians, relatable stories, and history, you will arrive at a richer understanding of your place in the world, at a depth not often covered on Sundays.
CHALLENGE ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT YOUR ROLE IN THE WORLD
What do you see as your purpose in the world? What about your peers? Many people struggle with the idea of balancing faith and work–but you may be surprised to discover that by viewing them as distinct and separate, you’re holding yourself back from your place in God’s story.

UNCOVER THE MISSING PARTS OF THE STORY
We all know about the fall and redemption. But what if we told you those are only the middle parts of the story, and you’re missing the beginning and end? Creation and restoration are the lost chapters, and God isn’t the only character in them–he’s invited you to play a part too.
DISCOVER WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO TAKE UP YOUR ROLE IN GOD’S STORY TODAY
It’s easy to think that making a difference in the world is reserved for a chosen few. But God has chosen everyone, including you, to use their unique gifts and experience for the common good. All it takes is understanding where to start.

EXCERPT – MODULE 1, SESSION 2
Many of us today still divide our lives into compartments that separate our everyday lives, particularly our work, from the parts of our lives that seem more spiritual. We might find ourselves thinking that our job, our family, our school must be endured to hopefully find time for devotions, church, or bible studies. Or perhaps we elevate our esteem for a friend that has a job in the religion domain over our “more secular” job. The bible tells us something different.
The Hebrew word for work is avodah. It is the word used in Genesis 2 when scripture tells us that God took man and placed him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. It is important to note that the same word in Hebrew is used in multiple ways throughout scripture – the word avodah is translated as cultivating, creating, laboring, serving, and worship. God elevates what we often consider toilsome as purposeful and pleasing, even worshipful to Him.
How many times have we hoped for more from our work? I think about budget meetings, tough personnel decisions, long hours with low pay and I fail to see how any of this could be meaningful for me (or to God.) What if I could see my work as purposeful and worshipful? That would make all the difference in the world…
Why a small group discussion series?
It’s one thing to gain an understanding through absorbing information; listening to a sermon or reading a book can present challenging and valuable ideas. But at Cities Project Global, we believe the greatest transformation happens in community, and discussion gives people an understanding to more deeply challenge and process their own perspectives, as well as relate to beliefs and experiences shared by others.
A small group setting, within a trusted community or circle of friends, is the perfect place to begin a journey of discovery.
