We are created by God for God. Everything we do relates to God. As Paul writes, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Cor 10:31).
What Does It Mean to Be a Whole Christian?
The whole Christian sees God in everything and has God in mind all the time. This means:
- First Commandment: In everything a worshipper of God alone (Ex 20:3)
- Great Commandment: In everything a lover of God and all those made in His image (Mt 22:37-39)
- First Commission: For eternity join God in His rule over the world (Gen 1:28)
God’s Design for Integration
Each of us should use whatever gift they have received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. Whether we speak, serve, or work, we do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.
A whole Christian is one who:
- Sees God in everything and everyone
- Recognizes all legitimate work as sacred
- Integrates faith throughout every area of life
- Serves others as a reflection of God’s character
- Lives coherently—not compartmentalizing faith from daily life
When we understand this, we realize that God doesn’t separate Himself from any sphere of our lives. He wants us to experience His presence everywhere—in our family, workplace, community, and nation.
